Selection of Community Projects 2010/2011
  • Support to Knysna Sports School which provides tuition in seven types of sports for approx. 350 children from all walks of life
  • Supply of tuition materials to 25 Pre-schools
  • Management and financial assistance to Die Werkswinkel, a workshop for physically and/or mentally disadvantaged persons.
  • Establishment of Food gardens in disadvantaged communities
  • Provision of 20 tertiary education Bursaries annually
  • Support of Municipal Clinic’s TB Eradication project
  • Provision of Wheelchairs for disabled persons
  • Facilitation and part-financing of Safe Cycle- and Footpath alongside a major road
  • Support for E-Pap Children Feeding scheme that provides nutritious food for hundreds of school children
  • Financial assistance to Lovelife Foster Mothers of HIV orphans
  • Wide-ranging support for Knysna Sea Cadets
  • Outward Bound course for young pupils embracing leadership training and adventure
  • Rotary International program to eradicate Polio worldwide
  • Distribution of food donated by a supermarket to Nurseries / Kindergarten
  • Construction of an all-purpose room, toilets and equipping a pre-school at Masithandane Community Centre in Sedgefield. This centre is involved in educating children, youth and adults, giving clinical support and runs a children’s feeding scheme
  • Donations of Library Container to the community providing easier access to books and information
  • In liaison with other international Rotary clubs provided a School Library, a new Classroom, installed toilets at Pre-schools and facilitated safe water supply to various schools
  • Support for Epilepsy SA
  • Haart HIV/Aids Clinic waiting area upgrading
  • Instant support in cases of disaster
  • Organising one week of free Ear,Nose & Throat surgery with Volunteer Specialists
  • Upgrading of Crèches, Pre-schools and Rural schools
  • Support for Vermont retirement centre
  • "Get to Know Your Town" project with young learners from different communities
